IS THIS TRAINING FOR YOU?

You’ve completed a teacher training but feel like yoga philosophy was brushed over and you only ‘sort of understand it'.

You want to develop a personal yoga practice grounded in an understanding of yoga’s philosophical underpinnings.

You want to move away from the Western understanding of yoga as a fitness modality.

You’re drawn to taking a yoga teacher training to deepen your knowledge of yoga but don’t necessarily wish to teach.

You’ve recently completed a teacher training but don’t feel that it sufficiently supported your development as a student.

You’re ready to have yoga be way more than surface exercise.
Your knowledge of yoga philosophy is just the Eight Limbs and books like The Bhagavad Gītā and the Yoga Sūtras of Patańjali have left you feeling confused and unable to explain them to someone else or weave into your classes - let alone activate in your real life.

You teach yoga but feel you are losing connection with your practice as a space for self-knowledge and care in favor of treating it as a space to plan your classes.

You’ve taught or practiced yoga for a long time but your practice has fallen away and you’re inspired to reinvigorate it.

You’d like to become part of a supportive community of practitioners engaged in studying yoga at more depth than you currently have access to in your local studio.
WHAT IS YOGA STUDENT TRAINING?

You are drawn to yoga because you sense it can help you, though you may not know how or why.

You want to really know what yoga is and how to practice in ways that are applicable to your real life

Deeply understanding yoga philosophy doesn't come easy to most of us.

Yoga philosophy is usually just skimmed over in teacher trainings. Practitioners will put down books like The Bhagavad Gītā and the Yoga Sūtras of Patańjali because they’re so hard to get through.

You want to be a wise student.

You want to really understand the teachings deeply

You’re ready to finally & truly live the practice of yoga off the mat.

But ancient yoga philosophy and our modern yoga practice is often hard to navigate and deeply integrate. All too often, the student’s role is misunderstood, reduced in relevance, or rushed through in favor of becoming a teacher.

When you want to understand more about yoga, a teacher training where yoga philosophy is barely taught is usually the only option.

In rushing to declare ourselves experts and teachers, we can lose sight of our own practices and growth. The yoga tradition places great importance upon the relationship between the teacher and student: a student needs a teacher, but a teacher also needs a student.
This course aims to reframe what it is to be a yoga student and satisfy your thirst for knowledge in ways that are respectful of yoga’s traditions yet acknowledge the realities of our modern lives. While many other trainings place much of the focus on physicality and aesthetics, Yoga Student Training offers a clear and comprehensive course of the true teachings of yoga.

During this year-long journey, you’ll tap into your inner wisdom and take a deep-dive into yoga philosophy with passion and a dash of humor. The interactive lectures that can be watched live or via the recordings (CLICK HERE FOR LIVE DATES & TIMES) will simplify complex concepts, and the no-pressure structure will give you time to integrate and engage with the principles in everyday life...

So you can really understand them.

So you can teach them with confidence.

So you can live them in your daily life.

WHETHER YOU'RE A YOGA STUDENT OR A TEACHER, YOU MAY BE ASKING?

How can I be a wise student of yoga? What is my role as a student?

Do students have responsibilities?

What is the nature of the student/teacher relationship, and how is this relevant to yoga?

What is the practical point of the yoga practice techniques offered?

How can I learn yoga philosophy in a clear, straightforward way that applies to what I do on the mat as well as within my daily life?

What is the relationship between what I do on a yoga mat and how I live my life?

Why do studios, classes, and systems follow so many different techniques?

How can I participate as a wise and active student if the methods are different?

How do I decide which techniques, styles, etc. are right for me?

Yoga Student Training will provide an environment in which you can engage with these and many other pertinent questions. We’ll unpack these important issues and discuss how the current framework exists in part because they are not prioritized.
By the end of the course, you will have a deep, layered, and very personal understanding of what it means to be a yoga student that benefits you as an individual and as part of the broader yoga community. Participants with longstanding practices or teaching experience will learn the skills and engage with the process of what it means to be a student again and be able to sustain this in the longer term.

This training is designed to:
  • Enrich the experiences you have on a yoga mat
  • Give you a clearer understanding of how yoga and its teachings can become a fundamental aspect of how you navigate the world
When you’re finished with this program, you’ll have confidence in yourself and your ability to learn (and, for some, to teach) and a deeper understanding of yoga and the yoga world—and, most importantly, yourself.
